Licensed Vocational Nurse or Medical Assistant
Calyx Health, a doctor’s office exclusively for Medicare seniors, is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Medical Assistant (MA) to join our team at our flagship office in Alameda, CA. Our mission is to build the healthcare system that seniors deserve and the country urgently needs. Calyx Health’s care philosophy includes longer visits, which affords more time to address the social, emotional, and medical needs of our patients. We emphasize prevention and careful disease management, so we keep patient care at home and in the community, outside of hospitals and emergency rooms. Critical to this mission is our team-based approach to caring for our patients and our LVN/MA is the first clinical touchpoint for our patients.
We are looking for a vibrant, compassionate, and driven Licensed Vocational Nurse or Medical Assistant to join our clinical team. Beyond the standard required qualifications, key characteristics of our ideal candidate include strong verbal and written communication skills, a very personable and approachable nature, the ability and desire to form strong relationships with patients and team members, the ability to learn and function on a new EMR system, and an interest in using cutting-edge technology to optimize patient care. The position is full-time and has tremendous growth potential, as this individual will contribute to new processes and shape new standards of senior care in our flagship clinic that will be rolled out to future Medicare-focused clinics across the country.
Rooming patients, taking vitals and collecting clinical information
Reviewing and documenting preventative measures
Work with other providers, clinical staff, and technology team to ensure success at Medicare and Medicare Advantage quality measures, risk adjustment, and billing needs
Performing phlebotomy and processing specimens
Communicating directly with patients about results and basic patient education
Assist in following care plans for at-risk patients with multiple chronic conditions
Work with clinical and technology teams to innovative on existing workflows, integrate technology, and better serve patients

Training, skills, requirements:
LVN or MA certification/degree and experience in outpatient setting
Experience and/or certification in phlebotomy
Ability to use EMR system
A good listener with a warm and welcoming demeanor
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Naturally have the patience and enthusiasm to work with seniors
Ability to work within a team and give and take direction well
Ability to provide and receive feedback
A passion for technology integration in healthcare and outside of the box thinking
Start-up mentality, not afraid to roll-up sleeves and wear many hats
Geriatric experience a bonus
