Frequently Asked Questions
Why focus in senior care?
We believe that younger adults and older adults should not be treated by the same physician or clinic. The same way children are cared for by pediatricians who specialize in child development, seniors should be cared for by geriatricians who specialize in senior health. In doing so, we can create a healthcare experience that specifically caters to the unique needs of an aging population—with longer appointments, transportation assistance, and community events and classes to address other social factors that influence the health and well-being of patients.
What is the medical philosophy of the practice?
We understand that seniors’ health needs are complex. Instead of a narrow, symptom-based approach to care, we work with patients and their families to understand their long-term goals and values. Our team takes the time upfront to develop an open, collaborative relationship so we can present a full range of medical options—always with the patient’s goals at the forefront. It's important to us that we're not just treating the body, but the person as well.
What can I expect when I come to the office?
You will find a modern, welcoming clinic atmosphere that relaxes and refreshes them, with healthy snacks, and a caring team practicing good medicine. Everything about our office has been designed with seniors in mind—from the acoustics to the lighting to the check-in and check-out process—so we can deliver a much better patient experience.
Do you accept my insurance?
We accept Medicare, Medigap/Medicare Supplement, Medi-Cal, and most Medicare Advantage health plans including Stanford, Health Net, and AARP SecureHorizons/United. We do not accept Kaiser.
If you would like us to check your insurance benefits and eligibility, please contact us at 510-323-4410 or email@example.com.
Can you help me navigate my MEDICARE HEALTH PLAN options?
If you are turning 65, have recently retired, or are interested in learning about what your other healthcare plan options are, Calyx Insurance Services can support you.
Calyx Insurance Services can help you figure out which Medicare health plan is right for you. We do this by looking at how often you visit the doctor, which types of doctors you see, and which medications you take, so we can calculate what the annual costs would be for each plan out there.
There is no cost for this service. To get started, call 510-474-0515 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Is there a fee to join Calyx Health?
There is no cost or fee to join our practice. If you are on Medicare, we most likely accept your insurance. To become a patient with our practice, simply make an appointment by contacting us at 510-323-4410 or email@example.com.
